Look for it, the ego vanishes. The real Self alone remains.

Innocence is the base of all spirituality. The moment you think you know, you are no more a child. You are closed. Knowledge kills and poisons. Innocence opens you and makes you alive. That's why Jesus goes on saying “If you are like children, only then -- and only then -- will you be able to enter into the kingdom of God.

A subtle illumination will be experienced as ‘I-I’ which is no other than the Absolute, the Self, seated in the lotus of the Heart, in the city of the body, the tabernacle of God.

THE MIND GOES ASTRAY , THE MIND RETURNS HOME...

Q: Is perfection the destiny of all human beings?

M: Of all living beings -- ultimately. The possibility becomes a certainty when the notion of enlightenment appears in the mind.

Once a living being has heard and understood that deliverance is within his reach, he will never forget, for it is the first message from within. It will take roots and grow and in due course take the blessed shape of the Guru.

Q: So all we are concerned with is the redemption of the mind?

M: What else? The mind goes astray, the mind returns home. Even the word 'astray' is not proper. The mind must know itself in every mood. Nothing is a mistake unless repeated.

"in the stillness of the mind I saw myself as I am -- unbound. I simply followed (my teacher's) instruction which was to focus the mind on pure being 'I am', and stay in it. I used to sit for hours together, with nothing but the 'I am' in my mind and soon peace and joy and a deep all-embracing love became my normal state. In it all disappeared -- myself, my Guru, the life I lived, the world around me. Only peace remained and unfathomable silence."

When I think of the Supreme Being as inactive — neither creating nor preserving nor destroying — I call Him Brahman or Purusha, the Impersonal God. When I think of Him as active — creating, preserving, and destroying — I call Him Śakti or Māyā or Prakriti, the Personal God. But the distinction between them does not mean a difference. The Personal and the Impersonal are the same thing, like milk and its whiteness, the diamond and its lustre, the snake and its wriggling motion. It is impossible to conceive of the one without the other. The Divine Mother and Brahman are one.

Real wisdom is recognizing and accepting that every experience is impermanent. With this insight you will not be overwhelmed by ups and downs. And when you are able to maintain an inner balance, you can choose to act in ways that will create happiness for you and for others.
Living each moment happily with an equanimous mind, you will surely progress toward the ultimate goal of liberation from all suffering.

The worst of all temptations is restlessness. It is evil because it keeps your attention on the world and thus causes you to remain in ignorance of God. If you meditate regularly, you will be with God all the time.

Attention is not the Ultimate. It's important. It's one of your most powerful instruments, because wherever attention goes we call this experience. But something observes attention also. That, which is behind attention, untroubled by the movements of mind, identify this now. A tsunami of thoughts cannot touch that one. It touches the popular identity; it affects the self-image; the ego. But the Absolute is absolutely untouched.

I have bled for Thy Name; and for Thy Name's sake I am willing ever to bleed. Like a mighty warrior, with gory limbs, injured body, wounded honour, and a thorn crown of derision, undismayed I fight on. My scars I wear as roses of courage, of inspiration to persevere in the battle against evil. I may continue to suffer blows on my arms outstretched to help others, and receive persecution instead of love, but my soul shall ever bask in the sunshine of Thy blessings, O Lord. Thou dost guide Thy soldier's campaigns that conquer for Thee the lands of human hearts now oppressed by sadness.

Just see the person you imagine yourself to be as a part of the world you perceive within your mind, and look at the mind from the outside, for you are not the mind. After all, your only problem is the eager self-identification with whatever you perceive. Give up this habit, remember that you are not what you perceive, use your power of alert aloofness.

IN THE QUIETNESS IS YOUR STRENGTH

Most of you have come to listen to words, but I tell you the message is in-between the words. In the silence, where there is no talk going on. That's the message. That's where truth is, that's where reality is, when there are no sounds, no words. Words are only to motivate you to keep quiet. That's all words are good for. Chanting ,words, they're only to quieten the mind. Keep you still. In the stillness is your reality. In the quietness is your strength, not in the noise, not in the talk. Try to be quiet most of the time. Do not get involved in too many conversations.

People have been talking since the beginning of time. What did it accomplish them? Look at the world, the precarious position it's in. It's all done by talking, talk, talk, talk talk. And now you come here to listen to me talk to add to the confusion. But I say to you, "You have to give up the talking. You have to give up all the dogmas and confusions and nonsense. Drop it all and be still. Be still and know that I am God."

When you are still you will feel the presence of the power. You will feel the absolute reality of what you are. Only in quietness can you feel this...this peace. Not in noise, but in peace, in quietness. Only then will you feel a stillness and a harmony and joy.

ONE PATH AND DIFFERENT FORMS OF ITS expression

D: Which path is best suited to me? Won’t all help be
provided by God?

Bhagavan: Bhakti, Karma, Jnana and Yoga, all these paths are one. You cannot love God without knowing Him nor know Him without loving Him. Love manifests itself in everything you do and that is Karma. The development of mental perception (Yoga) is the necessary preliminary before you can know or love God in the proper way.

D: Can I go on thinking “I am God”? Is that right practice?

B: Why think that? In fact you are God. But who goes on thinking or saying “I am a man”, “I am a man”? If any contrary thought, for instance, that one was a beast had to be put down, then of course you might say “I am a man”. To the extent of crushing down the wrong notion that one is this or that, according to one’s erroneous fancies, to that extent the idea that he is not these but God or Self, may be indulged in, as a matter of practice but when practice is over, the result is not any thought at all (such as ‘I am God’) but mere Self-realization. That is beyond conceptual thought.
