You cannot get closer to Truth.
You can only awaken to the Truth that you are.

Life is like music for its own sake. We are living in an eternal now, and when we listen to music we are not listening to the past, we are not listening to the future, we are listening to an expanded present.

When the Zen Master attained Enlightenment he wrote the following lines to celebrate it:
“Oh wondrous marvel:
I chop wood!
I draw water from the well!”
After enlightenment nothing really changes. The tree is still a tree; people are just what they were before; and so are you. You may continue to be as moody or eventempered,as wise or foolish. The one difference is that you see things with a different eye. You are more detached from it all now. And your heart is full of wonder. That is the essence of Contemplation: the Sense of Wonder. Contemplation is different from ecstasy in that ecstasy leads to withdrawal. The enlightened contemplative continues to chop wood and draw water from the well. Contemplation is different from the perception of beauty in that the perception of beauty (a painting or a sunset) produces aesthetic delight, whereas contemplation produces wonder—no matter what it observes, a sunset or a stone. This is the prerogative of children. They are often in a state of wonder. So they easily slip into the Kingdom.

Look a little closer at the lives of all the masters. Prior to discovering the Truth, their minds were often in crisis. A personal loss, broken dreams or rejection became the trigger to dive deeply within and beyond the mundane and familiar. An opportunity for transcendence presented itself in this way. The same thing can happen with you .. Inner turmoil, confusion or doubts give you a chance to go beyond the personal identity into the pure space of impersonal Awareness..."

He and I are one,
like the word and its meaning.

Behold union in separation,
like the eye and vision.

Not for a moment is He separate from me --
Behold us together everywhere,

We must allow ourselves to be disappointed, which means the surrendering of me-ness, my achievement. We would like to watch ourselves attain enlightenment, watch our disciples celebrating, worshipping, throwing flowers at us, with miracles and earthquakes occuring and gods and angels singing and so forth. This never happens. The attainment of enlightenment from ego’s point of view is extreme death, the death of self, the death of me and mine, the death of the watcher. It is the ultimate and final disappointment. Treading the spiritual path is painful. It is a constant unmasking, peeling off of layer after layer of masks. It involves insult after insult.

Whether you are suffering in this life, or smiling with opulence and power, your consciousness should remain unchanged. If you can accomplish even-mindedness, nothing can ever hurt you. The lives of all great masters show that they have achieved this blessed state.

there is the noble art of leaving things undone.

Siva shines within each jiva as a witness, [enabling] him [the jiva] to experience his prarabdha through his [Siva’s] presence. Whoever knows his nature to be mere being-consciousness, without imagining through ignorance that he is the experiencer of prarabdha, shines as that supreme person, Siva".- GVK, 151

Excerpts From Morning Discourse

1. Today I want to talk about the powers which are given to us but which we are not using. Power of words, if you can harness the power of words. Constantly utter right words about you inside you and outside you. The words you utter towards you and the words you utter towards others can do so much to your life. If you want to harness the power of words, the practice you need to do is Integrity. Integrity means aligning your internal and external words more and more towards completion is integrity. Aligning yourself more and more towards completion is integrity. When you start practicing integrity, you will harness the power of words. Your words will have so much power, just by your words you will be able to transform others. The fundamental human right should change from Freedom of Speech to “Power of Speech” Knowing the power of words is the fundamental right to speak.

2. The next important power which you can harness is power of thinking. Power of thinking is deeper than power of words. Power of thinking can make or break your life itself. Power of thinking is used in the right direction is harnessed when you practice authenticity. What you think about you can be changed in just 10 days.

3. (Just before sleeping, remember your highest possibility.) Please understand dreams lead you to reality. In the night bring the dreams. Every night align what you want to think about you, what you want to think about others, how you want to show you to others, what you want others to think about you. Align and fall asleep, I tell you, you will fall into Samadhi. I tell you the power of thinking is such a miraculous power

4. Power of feeling is another important power. That is very important power. You can harness that power by practicing “Responsibility.” If you feel responsible for more and more things, I tell you, you raise yourself to the next level of life.

5. Next is power of living. Everyday living itself is a power. Living in right place is a power. Anybody who lives in energy field, naturally it becomes power in you. Living itself becomes a power. You can harness the power of living and use it in your life when you decide to Enrich. Please understand when you decide your life is for others, you harness the best cream of power of life. When you decide, enriching is your life, you are showered the best of the life by the life.

6. In this whole thing the most important thing is not giving up on you and not giving up on others. Even if people fail hundreds of times, continue to work on them. If you are not able to handle their failures, you will not be able to handle your failures. If you are not able to handle your failures you will not be able handle other’s failure. Giving up on you and others is Spiritual Suicide.

29-31. The sight must be turned away from other objects and fixed on a particular object in order to see it. Otherwise that object will not be perceived in entirety. The fact that the sight is not fixed on it is the same as not seeing it. Similarly is it with hearing, touch, etc.
32. The same applies to the mind in its sensations of pain and pleasure, which are not felt if the mind is otherwise engaged.
33. The other perceptions require the two conditions, namely, elimination of other objects and concentration on the one. But Self-realisation differs from them in that it requires only one condition: elimination of all perceptions.

The Granth Sahib

Guru Nanak invented the Gurumukhi characters by simplifying the Sanskrit characters. The holy Granth of the Sikhs is in Gurumukhi. It is worshipped by the Sikhs and the Sindhis. Every Gurudwara has a Granth Sahib. The holy Granth, popularly known as Adi Granth, contains the hymns of the first five Gurus. They were all collected, arranged and formed into one volume called Guru Granth Sahib by the fifth Guru. It contains a few selections from the hymns of Kabir and other contemporary Vaishnavite saints. Later on, the hymns of the ninth Guru were incorporated in the holy Granth by the tenth Guru. The compositions of Guru Nanak are very extensive.

The Granth Sahib begins with the following: "There is but one God whose name is true—the Creator". It contains a code of high morals. Purity of life, obedience to Guru, mercy, charity, temperance, justice, straightforwardness, truthfulness, sacrifice, service, love and abstinence from animal food are among the virtues on which great emphasis is laid; while lust, anger, pride, hatred, egoism, greed, selfishness, cruelty, backbiting and falsehood are vehemently condemned.

Nanak has given a beautiful summary of his teachings in one of his hymns as follows:—

Love the saints of every faith:
Put away thy pride.
Remember the essence of religion
Is meekness and sympathy,
Not fine clothes,
Not the Yogi’s garb and ashes,
Not the blowing of the horns,
Not the shaven head,
Not long prayers,
Not recitations and torturings,
Not the ascetic way,
But a life of goodness and purity,
Amid the world’s temptations.
