"They (the men of wisdom) call him Indra, Mitra, Varuna, Agni, and he is the heavenly, noble-winged Garutman. The Reality is one, but sages call it by many names; they call it Agni, Yama, Matarishvan (and so on)."

Shukla Yajur Ved 36.1

" The Rig Ved mantras propound all the speech or all the ideas and thoughts leading to all-sided perfection; the Yajur Ved develops the mind which is the source of all actions; the Sam Ved makes us fully develop our life energies or prana for completely developing our potential. The Atharva Ved gives the methods of perfection of our body and senses like eyes (chakshu) or hearing. "

The Self is not realized through instruction,
nor by intellectual power,
nor by much hearing
. It can be reached only
by the one whom the Self chooses.
To him the Self reveals its form.
He who has not renounced evil ways,
who is not at peace,
who cannot concentrate,
whose mind is not composed
cannot reach the Self,
even by right knowledge.

~ Katha Upanishad 1.2.24-25

ON MIND

" a maddened monkey, stung by the scorpion of jealousy, drunk with the wine of egoism, possessed by the devil of pride and roaming about in the jungle of the world without any check."

Śhruti (Sanskrit: श्रुति, IAST: śrúti, lit. "hearing, listening"), often spelled sruti or sruthi mainly in South India, is the body of sacred texts comprising the central canon of Hinduism and is one of the three main sources of dharma. These sacred works span much of the history of Hinduism, beginning with some of the earliest known Hindu texts and ending in the early modern period with the later Upanishads***

Meet together, talk together, let your minds apprehend alike. Common be your prayer, common be your assembly's end and aim, common be your purpose, common be your deliberation and common your policy. Common be your desires, united be your hearts, united be your intention, so that there may be a thorough union among you.

Creation Hymn of the RigVeda

There was neither non-existence nor existence then.
There was neither the realm of space nor the sky which is beyond.
What encompassed?
Where?
In whose protection?
What water was there - deep, unfathomable?

There was neither death nor immortality then.
Of night or day there was not any sign.
That One breathed without breath, all by its own impulse.
Other than that there was nothing beyond.

Darkness was enclosed by darkness in the beginning,
All this was water without distinction.
The One that was concealed within nothingness,
That One arose through the power of heat.

Desire came upon that One in the beginning,
That was the first seed of mind.
Seer-poets, searching in their hearts with wisdom
found the bond of existence and non-existence.

Their vision ray span a cord across being and non-being.
Was there below?
Was there above?
Bearers of seed there were, there were powers.
There was impulse below, there was bearing forth above.

Who know the truth?
Who will here proclaim it?
Whence this birth?
Whence this creation?
The gods came afterwards, with the creation of this universe.
Who then knows from whence it emerged?

That out of which creation emerged,
Whether it created itself or did not,
He who surveys it in the highest heaven,
He surely knows - or maybe He does not!

The central tone of the Upanishads reveals everywhere a disbelief in the world of forms ever since the Rigveda declared that the sages give many names to that which is essentially One ( Rigveda I. 164. 46 )
