Why should God surrender Himself easily to you? You who work so hard for money and so little for divine realization! The Hindu saints tell us that if we would give so short a time as 24 hours to continuous, uninterrupted prayer, the Lord would appear before us or make Himself known to us in some way. If we devote even one hour daily to deep meditation on Him, in time He will come to us.
Yoga is definite and scientific. Yoga means union of soul and God, through step-by-step methods with specific and known results. It raises the practice of religion above the differences of dogma. My guru, Sri Yukteswar, extolled Yoga; he did not, however, indicate that realization of God thereby would be immediate. "You have to work hard for it," he told me. I did, and when the promised results came, I saw that Yoga was marvelous.
The Lord is both law and love. The devotee who with pure devotion and faith seeks the unconditional love of God, and who also brings his actions into harmony with divine law, will surely receive the purifying, mitigating touch of God. Any sin, and its consequence, can be forgiven the repentant devotee who loves God deeply enough, and thereby puts his life in tune with the all-compassionate Lord.
No matter what your work or responsibilities, you must keep your most important engagement - with God in meditation, for all things will betray you if you betray Him. That is why I never miss my appointment with Him, especially at night. Don't go to bed until you feel the joy of God within and without, then all day long He will be with you. Nothing can match that joy.
I shall recognize all disease as the result of my transgressions against health laws and I shall try to undo the evil by right eating, by less eating, by fasting, by more exercise, and by right thinking.
Mind is the chief factor governing the body. One should always avoid suggesting to the mind thoughts of human limitations such as sickness, old age, and death. Rather, the mind should constantly be told this truth: "I am the Infinite, which has become the body. The body, as a manifestation of Spirit, is the ever-youthful Spirit.
Lord, it is Thy light I behold. I deeply pray for all souls on this path of Self-Realization, that soon You release them from the terrible delusion of their karma and mass karma. For all the errors of our conduct, for all our omissions and ignorance, still we are Thy children. Remind us of this evermore,- that even behind the prison bars of karma, we are one with Thee. As soon as we close our eyes, as soon as we are in ecstasy, we know we are made in Thine image. We are free. O Lord, Thy love is overwhelming! We bow to Thee.
One day I saw a big pile of sand on which a tiny ant was crawling. I said: "The ant must be thinking it is scaling the Himalaya mountains!" The pile may have seemed gigantic to the ant, but not to me. Similarly, a million of our solar years may be less than a minute in the mind of God.
The Ocean of Spirit has become the little bubble of my soul. Whether floating in birth, or disappearing in death, in the ocean of cosmic awareness the bubble of my life cannot die. I am indestructible consciousness, protected in the bosom of Spirit's immortality.
Every day, do some good to help others, even if it is only a pittance. If you want to love God you must love people. They are His children. You can be helpful materially by giving to the needy; and mentally by giving comfort to the sorrowful, courage to the fearful, divine friendship and moral support to the weak. You also sow seeds of goodness when you interest others in God, and cultivate in them greater love for God, deeper faith in Him. When you leave this world, material riches will be left behind; but every good that you have done will go with you. Wealthy people who live in miserliness, and selfish people who never help others, do not attract wealth in their next life. But those who give and share, whether they have much or little, will attract prosperity. That is the law of God.
One's values are profoundly changed when he is finally convinced that creation is only a vast motion picture, and that not in it, but beyond it, lies his own reality.

Eternity yawns at me below, above, on the left and on the right, in front and behind, within and without. With open eyes I behold myself as the little body. With closed eyes I perceive myself as the cosmic center around which revolves the sphere of eternity, the sphere of bliss, the sphere of omniscient, living space.
[God] won't measure how long you have worked for spiritual attainment; it is your intensity that counts. No matter how many incarnations of bad karma you might have, if your devotion and sincerity are deep enough to bring into your consciousness the light of God, all darkness of the evil of incarnations will be burned away.
When you have peace in every movement of your body, peace in your thinking and in your will power, peace in your love, and peace and God in your ambitions, remember, you have connected your life with God.
God says: "To the devotional call of that child of Mine who struggles, prays, and meditates in order to know Me in body, mind, and soul as the all-pervading, ever-new Joy - as the ever-increasing Bliss of meditation - I silently and deeply respond."
The peaceful individual remains calm until he wants to work, then he swings into action; and as soon as he is through, he swings back to the centre of calmness. You must always be calm, like the pendulum that is still, but ready to swing into action whenever necessary.
Peace is found through surrender to good through devotion. People who are loving, who practice stillness, who delight in meditation and good actions, are really peaceful. Peace is the altar of God, the condition in which happiness exists.
Every day you should sit quietly and affirm, with deep conviction: "No birth, no death, no caste have I; father, mother, have I none. Blessed Spirit, I am He. I am the Infinite Happiness." If you again and again repeat these thoughts, day and night, you will eventually realize what you really are: an immortal soul.
