The power of the question "Can the seer be seen?" is not in any intellectual or objective answer that you can find. The power of this question is in the mere introspection, in the attempt at locating the seer. It is burning a lot of conceptual and psychic noise. What remains is only That. The undefinable One, in recognition of itself, even in this body.
You are coming to deep mystery of this Universe and having a sense of the greatness of this immortal Being, which is dwelling in this body, which is living and appearing in drag as a person

Before you can say " I am ", you must be there to say it. Being need not be self-conscious. You need not know to be, but you must "be" to know

Why should we refuse to treat anything as real unless it exists always?

Bhagavan said, “How can anything be said to be real which is only a passing show?” Somebody in the hall said, “All this difficulty arises because of translation into English. The Sanskrit word is satyam which means, not reality, but that which exists always.” Balaram also quoted Bhagavad Gita which says, “That which exists never ceases to exist. That which does not exist (at any time) has no existence"

Question: A person does something good but he sometimes suffers pain even in his right activities. Another does something wicked but is also happy. Why should it be so?

Ramana Maharshi.: Pain or pleasure is the result of past Karma and not of the present Karma. Pain and pleasure alternate with each other. One must suffer or enjoy them patiently without being carried away by them. One must always try to hold on to the Self. When one is active one should not care for the results and must not be swayed by the pain or pleasure met with occasionally. He who is indifferent to pain or pleasure can alone be happy. (Talk 546

The sadhaka practising meditation on the Self, should always think firmly that all diversities of soul, world and creator are the undifferentiated Brahman-Self only. By practice, his consciousness is freed from thoughts, after which he should give up the above thought also and abide always in the thought-free state of the Self.

All that you are attached to, all that you love,
All that you know, someday will be gone.

Knowing this, and that the world is your mind
Which you create, play in, and suffer from,
Is known as discrimination.

Discriminate between the Real and the Unreal,
The known is unreal and will come and go
So stay with the Unknown, the Unchanging, the Truth

After a long time Sri Ramakrishna regained consciousness of the world [after having been in Samadhi].

MASTER [Sri Ramakrishna] (to M.): "Something happens to me in that state of intoxication. Now I feel ashamed of myself. In that state I feel as if I were possessed by a ghost. I cease to be my own self. While coming down from that state I cannot count correctly. Trying to count, I say, 'One, seven, eight', or some such thing."

NARENDRA: "It is because everything is one."

MASTER: "No, It is beyond one and two."

MAHIMA: "Yes, you are right. 'It is neither one nor two.'"

MASTER: "There reason withers away. God cannot be realized through scholarship. He is beyond the scriptures - the Vedas, Puranas, and Tantras."

It is the nature of the mind to wander. You are not the mind. The mind springs up and sinks down. It is impermanent, transitory, whereas you are eternal. There is nothing but the Self. To inhere in the Self is the thing. Never mind the mind. If its source is sought, it will vanish leaving the Self unaffected.

Can you coax your mind from its wandering
and keep to the original oneness?
Can you let your body become
supple as a newborn child's?
Can you cleanse your inner vision
until you see nothing but the light?
Can you love people and lead them
without imposing your will?
Can you deal with the most vital matters
by letting events take their course?
Can you step back from your own mind
and thus understand all things?

Giving birth and nourishing,
having without possessing,
acting with no expectations,
leading and not trying to control:
this is the supreme virtue.

The Self is ever-present (nityasiddha). Each one wants to know the Self. What kind of help does one require to know oneself? People want to see the Self as something new. But it is eternal and remains the same all along. They desire to see it as a blazing light, etc. How can it be so? It is not light, not darkness (na tejo, na tamah). It is only as it is. It cannot be defined. The best definition is `I am that I AM.' The Srutis speak of the Self as being the size of one's thumb, the tip of the hair, an electric spark, vast, subtler than the subtlest, etc. They have no foundation in fact. It is only Being, but different from the real and the unreal; it is Knowledge, but different from knowledge and ignorance. How can it be defined at all? It is simply Being.~ Sri Ramana Maharshi; from talk 122

Lakshman Brahmachari of Sri Ramakrishna Mission asked: "Can one imagine oneself as witness of the thoughts?"

SRI RAMANA MAHARSHI: It is not the natural state. It is only an idea (bhavana) - an aid to stilling the mind. The Self is ever the witness, whether so imagined or not. There is no need to so imagine except for that purpose. But it is best to remain as one's Self.

Space, time, causation are all delusions. It is your disease that you think you are bound and will be free. You are the Unchangeable. Talk not. Sit down and let all things melt away... they are but dreams. There is no differentiation, no distinction; it is all superstition. Therefore be silent and know what you are... You are the essence of Bliss.

There are neither good nor bad qualities in the Self. The Self is free from all qualities. Qualities pertain to the mind only. It is beyond quality. If there is unity, there will also be duality. The numeral one gives rise to other numbers. The truth is neither one nor two. IT is as it is.

Our life is perfect as it is. It only appears to be imperfect when lived through identification and belief in the ego-mind - the realm of conditioning. We are not the deluded mind. We are the ever-perfect Being. We are the space in which thoughts appear, play and dissolve, like clouds drifting in the infinite sky

If the 'I' is identified with the body and person then it becomes the person's responsibility to take care of the bodily life. But if the 'I' becomes identified as consciousness then it is the universe's responsibility to take care of the body and the body's life and it will do a better job then your mind can do.

The essence of mind is only awareness or consciousness. When the ego, however, dominates it, it functions as the reasoning, thinking or sensing faculty. The cosmic mind being not limited by the ego, has nothing separate from itself and is therefore only aware. This is what the Bible means by "I am that I AM".
