It is for the Guru to point out the method; he will show you the way to understanding and instruct you in your sadhana. It is for you to keep on practiCing it faithfully. But the fruit comes spontaneously in the form of Self-revelation.
The power to make you grasp the Ungraspable duly manifests itself through the Guru. Where the question "How am I to proceed?" arises, fulfillment has obviously not yet been reached.
Therefore, never relax your efforts until there is Enlightenment. Let no gaps interrupt your attempt, for a gap will produce an eddy, whereas your striving must be continuous like the flowing of oil, it must be sustained, constant, an unbroken stream.

Treat with equal love all the people with whom you have relations. Thus the abyss between 'myself' and 'yourself' will be filled.
Always bear this in mind: Everything is in God’s hands, and you are His tool to be used by Him as He pleases. Try to grasp the significance of ‘all is His’ and you will immediately feel free from all burdens. What will be the result of your surrender to Him? None will seem alien, all will be your very own Self.
Be truthful in every way.
Without purity one cannot advance towards Divinity.

Questioner: Am I right to believe that you are God? SRI ANANDAMAYI MA: There is nothing save Him alone, everyone and everything are but forms of God. In your person, also He has come here now to give darshan. Q: Then why are you in this world? SRI MA: In this world? I am not anywhere. I am myself reposing within myself. Q: What is your work? SRI MA: I have no work. For whom can I work since there is only One?
It is necessary to try and dedicate to the Supreme every single action of one’s daily life.
You will have peace only if you can rise above worldly desires.
Who is it that loves and who is it that suffers?
He alone stages a play with Himself.
The individual suffers because he perceives duality.
Find the One everywhere and in everything
and there will be an end to pain and suffering.

God is the one great Reality. To know and experience Him is the whole purpose of human existence. So do not hesitate to strive to achieve this great goal. Be patience in all the ups and downs of life. Everything will right itself. Do all that is necessary to be done, but do not be anxious. Do your best and leave the rest to God.
It is only natural that ever more bliss should be experienced while practising yoga. So long as the One has not been revealed, distractions will come. But the Guru alone can point out whether one is proceeding in exactly the right manner. Transformation means that worldly interests have lost their hold. To the extent to which one becomes indifferent to worldly pursuits will one progress towards real Bliss.
Kishenpur, July 13th, 1956 -- This morning Ma said to some Ashramites who were put in charge of a large garden: "By working in the garden you will serve the trees and the plants and living with them try to become like them. Let the trees be your Guru. A tree gives fruit and shade. When the fruit is ripe it falls down, it is sweet to taste. The wood of the tree you use for cooking your food. So the tree gives itself entirely, it holds nothing back. Watch how the trees grow, make them your friends and learn from them. Also from the grass. Grass is lowly and puts up with everything. People tread on it, cut it and it does not defend itself. So also the earth: everyone walks on it; you hammer it, powder it - do anything you like with it, it remains quiet and friendly."

Divine happiness, even the tiniest particle of a grain of it, never leaves one again; and when one attains to the essence of things and finds one’s Self–this is supreme happiness. When it is found, nothing else remains to be found; the sense of want will not awaken anymore, and the heart’s torment will be stilled forever. Do not be satisfied with fragmentary happiness, which is invariably interrupted by shocks and blows of fate; but become complete, and having attained to perfection, be YOURSELF.
Duality is pain. So long as man does not wake up to his identity with the One, the cycle of birth and death continues for him.
INQUIRER: The hunger of the senses can never be appeased; the more one gets, the more one wants.
The fulfilment of worldly desire only begets greater longing.
SRI MA: This world is itself but an embodiment of want, and hence the heartache due to the absence of fulfilment must needs endure. This is why it is said that there are two kinds of currents in human life : the one pertaining to the world, in which want follows upon want; the other of one’s true Being. It is characteristic of the former that it can never end in fulfilment - on the contrary, the sense of want is perpetually stimulated anew. Whereas by entering the latter man will become established in his true nature and bring to completion the striving which is its expression. Thus, if he endeavours to fulfil himself by entering this current, it will eventually bring him to the perfect poise of his own true Being

Let your mind be like a beautiful flower that may be offered to the Lord in worship.
Though the dance of creation changes around me,
in the hall of eternity, I shall be the same.

In the field of His play even getting means losing. This is but the nature of its movement. Think of Him Who cannot be lost. Meditate on Him alone, on Him, the Fountain of Goodness. Pray to Him; depend on Him. Try to give more time to japa and meditation. Surrender your mind at His Feet. Endeavour to sustain japa and meditation without a break.
It is desire that causes sorrow; but the will to realize God is itself felicity. Be certain that He will cleanse and comfort you and take you into His arms. Sorrow comes in order to lead you to happiness. At all times hold Him in remembrance.
Do not search for the Self for this would be like your eye trying to see your retina. You are Self.

The light of the world comes and goes, it is unstable. The Light that is eternal can never be extinguished. By this Light you behold the outer light and everything in the universe; it is only because It shines ever within you, that you can perceive the outer light. Whatever appears to you in the universe is due solely to that great Light within you, and only because the Supreme Knowledge of the essence of things lies hidden in the depths of your being is it possible for you to acquire knowledge of any kind.
Questioner: You say all are God. But are not some people more God than others?
SRI ANANDAMAYI MA: For him who asks such a question, this is so. But in actual fact God is fully and equally present everywhere.
Questioner: Is there no substance to me as an individual? Is there nothing in me that is not God?
SRI ANANDAMAYI MA: No, even in "not being God" there is only God alone. Everything is He.

Enquire: 'Who am I?' and you will find the answer. Look at a tree: from one seed arises a huge tree; from it comes numerous seeds, each one of which in its turn grows into a tree. No two fruits are alike. Yet it is one life that throbs in every particle of the tree. So, it is the same Atman everywhere.
All creation is that. There is beauty in the birds and in the animals. They too eat and drink like us, mate and multiply; but there is this difference: we can realize our true nature, the Atman. Having been born as human beings, we must not waste this opportunity. At least for a few seconds every day, we must enquire as to who we are. It is no use taking a return ticket over and over again. From birth to death, and death to birth is samsara. But really we have no birth and death. We must realize that.
