And men go abroad to admire the heights of mountains, the mighty waves of the sea, the broad tides of rivers, the compass of the ocean, and the circuits of the stars, yet pass over the mystery of themselves without a thought.
Doing as others told me, I was blind.
Coming when others called me, I was lost.
Then I left everyone, myself as well.
Then I found Everyone, Myself as well.
Coming when others called me, I was lost.
Then I left everyone, myself as well.
Then I found Everyone, Myself as well.
Our goal is to discover that we have always been where we ought to be.
Beyond the beauty of the external forms, there is more here: something that cannot be named, something ineffable, some deep, inner, holy essence. Whenever and wherever there is beauty, this inner essence shines through somehow. It only reveals itself to you when you are present.
Without loving God you will not get anywhere. Remember this at all times.
By ceaseless prayer He Who is Akhands (whole) is found. One's own Self, the Life of one's life, the Beloved of One's heart is the One to be eagerly sought.
Question every urge, hold no desire legitimate. Empty of possession, physical and mental, free of all self-concern, be open for discovery.
Make your entire life an expression of your faith and love for your teacher—this is real dwelling with the Guru.
When the mind moves even a little, that is samsara (worldly bondage); when the mind abides firmly and motionlessly (in the state of Self), that is mukti (liberation). This is certain. Therefore know that the wise man must hold his mind firm by supreme Self-awareness.
Maintain a neutral attitude towards all things; do not get infatuated with anything; maintain equanimity whether in happiness or suffering; be the same to friends and enemies; treat alike a broken piece of mud pot and a piece of gold.
Every other creature on the planet is doing its best. Only human beings hesitate about that.
All power is within you; you can do anything and everything. Believe in that, do not believe that you are weak; do not believe that you are half-crazy lunatics, as most of us do nowadays. You can do any thing and everything, without even the guidance of any one. Stand up and express the divinity within you.
The greatest religion is to be true to your own nature. Have faith in yourselves.
I am in this body. Henceforth, I would enter all the physical bodies.
Life itself is the Supreme Guru; be attentive to its lessons and obedient to its commands.
The highest form of human intelligence is to observe yourself without judgement.
How joyous it is to witness a human being recognising the real Self and merging with it.
When the tribal or personal mind is absorbed in the universal Self, the human being is transformed from person to presence and is again in harmony as wholeness.
This is the real Yoga.
The universal mind is open and boundless whereas the tribal mind is full of delusions.
On the surface, the illumined one may appear to belong to some tribe also but is, inwardly, the impersonal reality.
Just as the journey of a caterpillar is completed when it changes into a butterfly, Satsang is the changing room where the person changes back to its true nature.

In an instant, in the twinkling of an eye,
you can recognize what has always been and is still.
you can recognize what has always been and is still.
Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or they have thought more about their experiences than other people. Unfortunately, that’s too rare a commodity. A lot of people in our industry haven’t had very diverse experiences. So they don’t have enough dots to connect, and they end up with very linear solutions without a broad perspective on the problem. The broader one’s understanding of the human experience, the better design we will have.
For ages this idea has been proclaimed in the consummately wise teachings of religion, probably not alone as a means of insuring peace and harmony among men, but as a deeply founded truth. The Buddhist expresses it in one way, the Christian in another, but both say the same:
We are all one.
We are all one.

Question: How to root out the sexual impulse?
Ramana: By rooting out the false idea of the body being the Self. There is no sex in the Self.
Question: How to realize it?
Ramana: Because you think you are the body, you see another also as a body. Difference in sex arises. But you are not the body. Be the real Self. Then there is no sex.

Question: How will the sexual impulse cease to be?
Ramana: when differentiation ceases.
Question: How can it be effected?
Ramana: The 'opposite' sex, and its relation, are only mental concepts. The Upanishad says that all are dear because the Self is beloved to all. One's happiness is within, the love is of the Self only. It is only within; do not think it to be without. Then differentiation ceases to operate.

A person was badly distracted by sexual thoughts. He fought against them. He fasted three days and prayed to god so that he might be free from such thoughts. Finally, he decided to ask Ramana about it.
Sri Ramana listened and remained silent for about two minutes, then he said: Well, the thoughts distract you and you fought against them. That is good. Why do you continue to think of them now? Whenever such thoughts arise, consider to whom they arise and they will flee away from you.

From pain comes strength. From the negative comes the positive. Relish in this strength. Nurture it. It will take you through the great fire. It will pull you up to the high path. It will light you up to serve as a beacon for humanity. Sentient beings will come out of the darkness to your beacon of light to destroy the lower destructive self.
Zen is a way of liberation, concerned not with discovering what is good or bad or advantageous, but what is.
As long as you think that the cause of your problem is “out there”—as long as you think that anyone or anything is responsible for your suffering—the situation is hopeless. It means that you are forever in the role of victim, that you’re suffering in paradise.
Heaven is this moment.
Hell is the burning desire
for this moment to be different.
It’s that simple.

It’s that simple.
No matter how many times I tell you this, you’re still thinking, thinking, judging, judging, coming to conclusions, trying to work out your life. You have to let go. Totally, absolutely, completely.
