A real prayer will never contain any suggestions, instructions or demands. The sincere devotee will simply say, ‘O Lord, I do not know what is good or what is bad for me. I am nobody—nothing. You know everything. I know whatever you do must be for the best; therefore, do as you wish.’ In real prayer you bow down, surrender and declare your helplessness to the Lord.
Several failures might have occurred in your past. There is no meaning in wasting your time thinking about that. What has happened is over. What is needed is to mould your future. For that, live in the present. Do your actions in a better way, surrendering everything to a higher goal and seeking refuge in God. Do not grieve thinking of the past; that is foolishness. You are wasting both your energy and capacities by doing so. By worrying about the past your mind becomes weaker and weaker and you lose the strength to deal with the present. Remember that you are God’s child and that He will protect you. In that way you will gain the strength required to face the difficulties.
Selflessness has to flourish instead of selfishness. People should stop bargaining with one another in the name of relationships. Love shouldn't be a chain of bondage, it should be the very breath of life.
You have a body,
but you are not the body.
You are the nature of infinite power. The entire universe is within you.
but you are not the body.
You are the nature of infinite power. The entire universe is within you.
If you try to pursue happiness, you will miss it because the search for happiness will cause discontent. Searching is bound to create turbulence within. A turbulent mind is an unhappy mind. Your search for happiness is always in the future, it is never in the present. The future is outside; the present is within. Bliss awaits you within.

In real love the lover and the beloved disappear, and what remains is an unbroken experience of pure, unconditional love.
Without abandoning selfishness, no one can make the world good.
Doubt is your number one enemy. Faith is your best friend. Have faith and put forth effort. You will see the outcome.
Selfless service and utter dedication are the two things that will make one fit to receive the Guru's Grace.
There should not be any shyness, shame or false modesty to chant the Divine Name. Call aloud the moment you feel like doing so. Do not suppress it. Let your heart break open and flow towards Him without any hindrance. Such spontaneous calls will certainly help to open the heart.
Question: Why is Self-Realization so difficult to attain?
Amma: In fact Self-Realization is easy because the Atman (Self) is the closest to us. It is the mind that makes it difficult. The scriptures and the great Masters always try to make it simple. They keep reminding you that the Self or God is your true nature which means it is not far away. It is the real you, your original face but you need to have faith to imbibe this truth. Faithlessness makes the path rigorous and faith makes it simple.

If you want a certificate of approval from others, you won't receive a certificate from God.
With the exception of very few who have gained higher spiritual tendencies in prior lives, Self-realization is not possible for anyone without the blessings of a guru. Think of the guru as the manifestation of God in this world. Take even the most insignificant word of the guru as an order and obey it. That is the real service to the guru. There is no greater austerity. The guru's blessings flow automatically to any obedient disciple. That is the real service to the guru.
Compassion does not see the faults of others. It does not see the weaknesses of people. It makes no distinction between good and bad people. Compassion cannot draw a line between two countries, two faiths or two religions. Compassion has no ego; thus there is no fear, lust or passion. Compassion simply forgives and forgets. Compassion is like a passage. Everything passes through it. Nothing can stay there. Compassion is love expressed in all its fullness.
Courage is the primary thing. With Courage, you can overcome anything. So, abandon fear and gather Courage.
Children, in the face of karmic experiences all your weapons of ego and strength are powerless unless you abandon them, following the Guru’s instructions and throw yourself down in humble surrender. You cannot escape karma. If God’s or the Guru’s Grace is with you, the arrow of karma, which has already left the bow of your past life, cannot hurt you.
The world is like a mirror. Knowingly or unknowingly, we bring out the best or worst in each other. Every word, look and action is reflected in others. Usually, we project our own attitude onto others. A wrong word is enough to make a good friend our worst enemy, whereas, a kind word at the right time, can melt the heart of a cruel person. So we should always try to awaken the goodness in ourselves and others.
Building your connection with the permanent and unchangeable, with God, or the Self, is the most important thing in life.
The mind is like water; it always flows downwards. Even if waterfalls on the top of a mountain, it will still flow downwards. But fire always burns upward. Even if you turn a flame upside down, it will still burn upwards. It can vaporize and uplift water. So the fire denotes awareness and the water denotes the downward flow of our mind. The mind is always searching for materialistic comforts. We have to awaken the mind with the fire of inner awareness. We have to take a firm resolution to move forward.
Forget who you were or what you may have done in the past. Focus on what you would like to be, and then, while you are doing whatever is necessary to attain the goal, let go of the future as well.
Do not blame the circumstances and do not blame others.
Remove your own weaknesses.
Remove your own weaknesses.
The foundation of happiness is gratitude.
Every unfavourable circumstance can be converted into a favourable one. In this world, many people will throw mud at us in the form of their words and actions. Without falling into despair, a spiritual aspirant should be able to shake our minds free from this dirt and convert them into stepping stones.
There once was a spiritual aspirant living in a village. He was absorbed in his practices with an attitude of surrender. There was a person in the village who would always mock and criticize him.
Suddenly, one fine day, this critic passed away. A person came running to the aspirant and said, “I have good news: the person who always criticized you passed away.”
When the aspirant heard the news, he said with sadness, “So sad. I’ve lost such a good friend. He always helped me to keep my focus centered on my guru and to progress on the spiritual path.”

Egolessness is the nature of a mahatma. A person’s ego cannot affect a mahatma, as there is nothing for it to hold on to. Egolessness is nothingness filled with love and compassion; it is nothingness filled with the presence of divinity.
Patience is a great asset. Patience is the antibiotic that destroys the germs of bad feelings like anger. Patience helps us to have a proper perspective of the thoughts that we entertain. If a person commits a mistake, we should not abhor the person but the mistake. Even if we have to punish a person, deep within ourselves we should have love towards him.
